Webinar description: Older adults are more likely than any other age group to initiate, resume, or continue benefiting from cannabis. Normalization, legal reform, and the aging Baby Boomer generation will further contribute to this rise as the older adult population grows to 19% of the United States census by 2030. Access barriers to cannabis treatment continue to be eliminated with the expansion of state-based medical programs, the normalization of adult use, and the growing availability of hemp-derived cannabis products. However, fear of regulatory consequences and lack of knowledge prevent cannabinoids from being effectively utilized in settings such as assisted living or skilled nursing care. This webinar will explore the role and value of cannabis use for older adults and practice implications for cannabis nurses supporting those in the long-term care setting.
