The Webinar will Cover the Following:

This presentation will provide an overview of the Missouri medical cannabis program and a basic introduction to the amazing subject of cannabis as medicine.

Learning Objectives/Outcomes:

  • Discuss Missouri’s Medical Cannabis program recognizing the challenges and opportunities for patients and comparing this program to your own home state’s, if any.
  • Describe the amazing history of cannabis as medicine from ancient times through modern prohibition.
  • Recognize the impact that the Federal ban and Schedule 1 classification of cannabis has on social attitudes, patient access, research, and the education of health care professionals.
  • Discuss basic pharmacology concepts of medical cannabis including chemovars, terpenes, and the endocannabinoid system.
  • List basic uses for medical cannabis, vehicles of administration, safety concerns, side effects, and  drug interaction precautions.
  • Describe the concept of harm reduction and the role medical cannabis can play in the treatment of chronic arthritis pain and opioid use reduction.

Our Presenter:

Mary Rose Hoff, RN, BSN, CCM

Mary Rose Hoff is a Missouri registered nurse with over 30 years of experience in the fields of Burn Trauma, Neuro-Trauma, Open Heart recovery, ICU/CCU, long term care, nursing management, nursing administration, and ambulatory case management.  Mary Rose earned her BSN through Phoenix University, is a CCMC certified nurse case manager, and graduated in 2020 from the Pacific College of Health and Science Medical Cannabis for Healthcare program. Mary has been a proud member of the American Cannabis Nurses Association since 2018 and serves on the Policy and Government Affairs committee. Mary is also a member of the Case Manager Society of America and the CMSA of the Greater Ozarks chapter and serves on the education committee. Mary Rose is staunch supporter of patient cannabis rights and her passion is to educate, advocate, and facilitate on behalf of patients seeking a better quality of life through cannabis medicine.  Mary is a full-time nurse case manager and also provides consultation services for Missouri and Arkansas cannabis patients and Missouri medical cannabis businesses.
