Mike Harvey, RN, BSN

ACNA Director

Mike Harvey is new to his role as a Cannabis Nurse but has had a variety of nursing positions both in the Department of Veterans Affairs and as a Soldier.

Mike is proud to claim the fact that he has provided nursing care to those who have served their country.  Having spent 10 years as a VA nurse in both the cardiac intensive care and on the ortho/urology wards, he has had the opportunity to meet Veterans from all branches of the service and many WW II Veterans in his early years of nursing.  Mike has also served his country with over 39 years combined service in the Army, both on active duty and a Reservist, with 24 years of his military service as an Army Nurse Corps officer.

Mike strongly believes that in his role as a cannabis nurse, he can effect change in how the federal government and Department of Veterans Affairs views cannabis as medicine.  He plans to be an outspoken advocate for the inclusion of cannabis for Veterans with medical conditions that would positively benefit from cannabis as adjunct or first line therapy. Providing cannabis education to health care providers, patients and the public in general will take time to reverse the stigma that has been placed on this wonderful plant medicine.

Mike currently resides in South Carolina with his wife of 37 years, adult daughter and 5-year-old grandson.
